Abstract
Family education is the most primary education compared with school education and social education. It plays an important role in personal growth, happiness and family peace, and the development of the whole society. Under the impact of history, economy, culture and society, different countries have different features in family education. And this thesis carries out a comparative study on the notion, content, and method of Chinese and American family from the perspective of culture. To absorb advanced American family education concepts and cultivate more talents for Chinese society, the thesis discovers different characteristics of family education and explores the differences. The research methodologies are chiefly case study and comparative analysis. The writer obtains typical successful and failed family education in the two countries by searching numerous books, periodicals, papers and official websites and news reports. Chinese and American family education has their own strengths and weakness in the different subsets. This thesis has some suggestions to improve Chinese family education and hope that our national family education can be reasonable and complete.
