Abstract
White Fang was written by the American realist writer Jack London. It was his another masterpiece about dog after The Call of the Wild. The novel describes White Fang’s transformation from a wolf to a domestic dog, and from being wild to being civilized. With the constant change of the environment, White Fang’s characteristics changed a lot too. By analyzing the character of White Fang, this paper reveals the impact of environment on the characters, as well as the human reflections on the image of the protagonist. In addition to providing proposals on dealing with the relationship between man and animals, this paper also gives suggestions on how to handle human relations in the capitalist society.
