Abstract
The feedback of teacher evaluation is an important aspect of teacher talk. It is an important form of the interaction between students and teachers and a part of the language input of students. Therefore, it plays an important part in the process of improving the effect of classroom teaching and promoting the learners’ language acquisition. The thesis aims to explore the differences of forms and skills of evaluation feedback between expert teachers and novice teachers in middle schools. Besides, it will give some advice to novice teachers. There are two main problems which will be discussed in this thesis: (1) What forms of verbal evaluation feedback of experts and novice teachers would like to use? (2) What are the differences between expert and novice teachers when it comes to specific skills of feedback? The instruments of classroom observation and interview are used in the thesis. The author observes and records the difference of verbal feedback of two novice teachers and two expert teachers from the perspectives of positive feedback, negative feedback, neutral feedback. According to the analysis, the expert teachers prefer the form of positive feedback. While the novice teachers always like to use the form of negative feedback. When it comes to specific skills of feedback, the expert teachers prefer the skill of expansion. While the novice teachers like to use the skill of simple approval.
