Abstract
As the principal means of information dissemination and business negotiation in foreign business activities—business English correspondence has got extensive adoption and paid comprehensive attention. Business English correspondence is the professional written document for business development in business activities, and has obvious syntactic features and multiple translation principles and requirements. Translators should pay much attention to the accuracy and normalization of its translation. Therefore, studying the syntactic features and translation strategies is of great importance to the improvement of translation quality and the avoidance of misunderstanding between the trade partners. The thesis is an endeavor to explore business English correspondence from the perspective of syntactic features and to probe into the various strategies of business translation. It begins with the importance of business English correspondence in business activities and the emergency of the study of business English correspondence. It follows to summarize the syntactic features of business English correspondence with such aspects as euphemistic sentences, formulistic expressions, passive voice and long sentences. Then, it carries out a detailed analysis of the translation principles of business English correspondence. Finally, based on the syntactic features and translation principles of business English correspondence, the thesis puts forward some strategies of the translation of business English correspondence from the aspects of euphemistic sentences, formulistic expressions, passive voice and long sentences respectively. It aims to offer business people some feasible translation guidelines so as to achieve better communication. Key words: business English correspondence; syntactic features; translation
