Abstract: Published in 1813, Frankenstein is a meaningful western literary work in England. This work is not only the first work of Mary Shelley, but also the first science fiction in the world. Moreover, Frankenstein is a gothic story reflecting Mary Shelley’s ecofeminist consciousness. By interpreting Frankenstein with the view of ecofeminism, this dissertation seeks not only to help readers understand the text with deeper appreciation, but also to arouse readers’ attention to the ecological crisis and make them aware of the importance of building a harmonious society between men, women and nature.
