Abstract: As a universal language, English is wildly used under the background of globalization. In order to keep up with the time of development, it inevitably forces China to pay more and more attention to English learning and it has become popular all over China. From primary school to university, English is generally set as a compulsory course and it is almost regarded as a primary core method of measuring students overall ability. In addition, English words are often appearing in Chinese advertising, newspapers, daily communication and even in road signs. However, in our country where English is highly regarded, a strange phenomenon appeared: the English words, phrases, and grammar which the Chinese people use are different from those that the native speakers use. We named this phenomenon Chinglish. Many experts and scholars appeal to put an end to the occurrence of this phenomenon, for it has caused confusion of communication between China and other countries. Therefore, in-depth study of Chinglish is extremely important. This thesis will analyze the causes and countermeasures of Chinglish and find solutions.
