Abstract
By using George Steiner’s Hermeneutic translation theory as the theoretical basis, this thesis makes great efforts to analysis translator's subjectivity through four steps, "trust", "aggression", "incorporation", "compensation". It takes the English version of “Tess of the D’Uurbervilles” by Zhang Guruo as a case study in order to deepen people's cognition of translator's subjectivity. This thesis will be divided into six parts, after the literature review and theoretical framework, it will conduct thorough analysis of the English version "Tess of the D’urbervilles" .Various examples will be collected to illustrate the translator’s subjectivity reflected in the four steps. This thesis make valuable attempt on combining theory with practice, promotes the related research on the translator's subjectivity, and expands perspectives in the study of "Tess of the D’urbervilles".
