Abstract
In the process of learning English, words learning and accumulation directly affect the students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing ability. But students cognitive ability and learning ability is limited. There are large differences between English and Chinese words. In addition, the current English teaching mode has many problems. Boring teaching process and single teaching form is difficult to effectively mobilize the enthusiasm of students. It is difficult to achieve teaching effectiveness. Phonics teaching method can not only effectively cultivate students’ interest in learning, but also active atmosphere in order to make students actively involved in the classroom, phonics teaching method into English vocabulary teaching is imperative. Based on some relevant theoretical, this thesis mainly discusses the application of Phonics in primary school English teaching from three aspects respectively, from teaching letters and letter combinations to teaching spelling and writing words. At last, it discusses consolidating Phonics in reading. This thesis hopes to provide guidance for the application of Phonics in primary school English teaching.
