Abstract
As we all know, interest is very important in language learning. However, many middle school students are lack of interest in the course of learning English. They show little passion in English which leads to low teaching efficiency. Therefore, based on the analysis of the current situation of some middle schools in Yunnan Province, the thesis points out the necessity of cultivating students’ interest in learning English. It also elaborates that teachers should set students as main roles and select appropriate teaching strategies according to students’ practical situations to stimulate students’ interest, develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and personality and eventually improve teaching efficiency.
