Abstract: Junior middle school English regards improving students’ communicative competency as the goal, paying more attention to the cultivation of students' practical ability of using language. In the full implementation of the new curriculum reform, the communicative teaching method has got certain application in English teaching in junior middle school, but there are still some existing problems. This paper will mainly discuss the advantages of communicative teaching method, some problems encountered in the application of communicative approach to the teaching of English listening and speaking. Successful cases of the rational use of communicative approach in English listening and speaking classes are analyzed in order to explore the effective strategies for the application of communicative approach in the English classroom of listening and speaking in junior middle school, so as to help better promote junior middle school English teaching in China.
