Abstract: From the perspective of Skopos theory, this study focuses on the translation skills of English business contracts and aims to find a suitable method for translation. During the study, this paper starts from three angles of words, syntax and text, and summarizes the corresponding translation skills by enumerating examples and combining theoretical analysis. When analyzing words, the skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule are used; when analyzing syntax and text, the skopos rule and coherence rule are used, so as to improve the quality of translation, avoid unnecessary disputes, make people better understand English business contracts, address communication barriers, promote cross-cultural communication and ultimately achieve the purpose of communication to ensure the smooth, safe international trade and better promote China’s development of foreign trade and economy. In this study, the author finds that the three principles of skopos theory are suitable to guide the translation of English business contracts, which can serve as a good reference for business English scholars to study in the future.
