Abstract
With the trend of culture globalization, more and more English children’s picture storybooks have been introduced into China. Children’s picture storybooks are part of children’s literature, which are especially designed for children with vivid pictures and charming words. However, children’s picture storybooks have not drawn enough attention from the translators. Besides, many translations are of poor quality. This thesis takes Leo Lionnis’ picture storybooks as a case study and analyzes the E-C translation of children’s picture storybooks from the perspective of functionalist approaches. It is hoped that it can not only draw the attention from translators to the importance of German Functionalist Theory, but also help advance the research and translation of children’s picture storybooks.
