Abstract:With the rapid development of economy, advertising plays a key role in the economic prosperity, world trade development and international communication. The purpose of the translated advertisement slogan is to leave the key brand message in the minds of the target consumers. However, traditional equivalence-based linguistic approaches to advertisement translation fail to achieve satisfactory effect, because it neglects the communicative functions of advertisement translation. This dissertation explores the translation of advertising slogan under the guidance of German functionalist approach. Functionalist approach emphasizes the functionality of the target text in the target culture. In order to fulfill the communicative functions of advertisements, forms and contents of the original texts could be changed to adapt to the target settings. This dissertation also explores the tactics and skills of advertising slogan translation under the functionalist approach. Key Words: functionalist approach; advertising slogan; translation methods
摘要:随着中国经济的快速发展,广告翻译对经济的繁荣、国际贸易的发展、国际交流的促进起着越来越重要的作用。 广告是一种有目的的宣传文体,如果我们在翻译广告时盲目追求形式对等,就会丧失它的交际功能。广告的功能决定着它的翻译方法,在这方面,德国的功能翻译理论为我们提供了有益的借鉴,该理论强调翻译及目标文本在其文化中的功能。 本文运用功能翻译理论对英语广告口号的汉译进行分析,把广告口号翻译与文化、法律和消费者心理等因素相关联,并从中获得启示,探索广告口号英译汉的策略和技巧,为使广告口号更科学和实用提供可操作的理论依据,最终达到预期的交际目的。 关键词:功能翻译理论;广告口号;翻译方法
