Abstract：Sino-foreign press conference is one of the most important ways for China to communicate with other foreign countries. However, since China and other foreign countries have many differences in history, values and social customs, many interpreters find it quite hard for them to interpret accurately enough within a short time when it refers to cultures, such as proverb or verse, idioms or phrases concerning the history of the country. To some extent, interpretation is not only an impromptu bilingual oral conversion, but also a communicative behavior which conveys deep meanings beyond language level. If interpreters only pay attention to the language form rather than the hidden meaning behind the language, it will lead to the lack of cultural factors and affect the quality of interpretation. Therefore, in order to better accomplish the interpretation task, it’s quite important for interpreters to develop cross-cultural awareness.

　　　This thesis mainly discusses the relationship between culture and interpretation, the difficulties which interpreters meet and some methods to cultivate cross-cultural awareness. The main ways to develop cross-cultural awareness are: (1) Learn Chinese well (2) Study west cultures, including literature, religion, history and politics. (3)Improve basic language skills and develop strong expression ability in the spare time.

　　　The theoretical findings of this thesis aim to make people pay more attention to the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness and provide some advice for those who want to be interpreters. It can also help interpreters to find their shortcomings and improve their cultural knowledge as well as professional skills.

摘要：中外记者招待会是中国向世界展示其经济、政治、文化发展的重要外交手段之一。但是，由于中西方国家在历史文化、社会风俗等方面的差异，口译者往往很难在短时间内将两种语言（英汉）准确地且不失内涵地翻译出来。尤其是在遇到带有强烈文化色彩的词语, 比如谚语或诗句、习语或成语以及与对象国或本国的历史、国情现状密切相关的话语时, 口译者感到很是棘手。笔者认为，口译绝非简单的语言传输，而是两种文化之间的交互传递。口译者如果只注重语言形式（语法、词汇和语音）方面的对等，而忽视了其所具有的文化内涵，就会造成文化因素缺失，影响翻译的质量。因此，要想成为一名合格的口译者，跨文化意识的构建是非常有必要的。

　　　本文主要讨论了口译与文化的关系、口译者所面临的困难、跨文化意识的培养这几个方面。培养跨文化意识有多种方法，本文主要讨论了一下几种。1、了解本国历史，学好本国文化。2、了解西方的历史文化，包括文学、历史、宗教和政治。3、业余时间加强口译练习，提高语言水平和表达能力。

　　　本课题的研究方法和成果，旨在唤起大家对跨文化意识重要性的认识，并为口译者或立志成为口译者的人提供一定的借鉴和参考。该课题的研究成果可以帮助译者发现自身的不足，提升自己的文化功底和专业素养，以便更好得完成口译任务。
