教材内容分析
This unit is the seventh unit in the first volume of Grade 8 Go for it. This unit mainly talks about “Life in the future”. Through this topic, students can use simple future tense to make predictions, so that it’s easy to get the communicative function. This unit contains two parts: Section A and Section B. In Section A, most activities involve listening and speaking. In this part, students can master the structure, meaning and usage of simple future tense. Besides, students are supposed to learn lots of new words and phrases of future, for example, pollution, planet, save the earth and so on. Section B focuses on reading and writing. This part is about a passage of robots. It’s so novel for students that they are very interested in this passage. On the base of Section A and this passage, students can express their points of view more clearly and thoughtfully. So when they need to write, there are lots of materials ready for them. This writing task is “write about your life 20 years from now”. It is very attractive for students because students in this grade always have lots of longings for their future. Talking about predictions of future life is a topic that students are interested in, which can give full play to their imaginations, expand their thinking, stimulate their desire to speak English, fully mobilize their enthusiasm for learning, and guide them to deeply explore and independently design their future life. What’s more, this unit takes over from Unit 6 “I’m going to study computer science”. And Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister. Therefore, the above contents can not only help students to understand better, but also ensure the cohesion of knowledge.

Knowledge objectives: Students can learn the function and structure of simple future tense. Students can use “more, fewer and less” with nouns correctly. Students can get news words and phrases.(prediction, future, plant, pollution, save the earth, human servants, hundreds of....) Ability objectives: Students can use simple future tense to make predictions about the future. Students can use simple present tense, simple future tense and simple past tense skillfully according to different time expressions and use these three tenses above to express our past, present and future life in writing. Emotion objectives: Students can forecast the future life and stimulate the fighting spirit of hard work. Students can raise their awareness of environmental protection. |
