This module is the third module in the fourth volume of Grade 2 New Standard English. This module mainly focuses on the task of “preparing some about social advice for visitors to China”. In the first part, the teacher presents some photographs about body language in social communication. Students can use suitable language in different situations. In reading and vocabulary, this part presents some words and phrases about body language. The expository essay describes the ways of greeting each other with body languages in different countries or areas, such as Europe, America, Asia and India. Students can realize the significance of body language in communication. In the activities of choosing the best title and identifying true or false, students can master how to find the main idea and the specific information of the passage. The post reading tasks enable students to consolidate words and phrases and recall adverbial clause of condition. Students can comprehend the implication of body language by matching sentences. Listening and vocabulary introduces some nouns of body parts and verbs of body movements. Students can give advice on cross cultural communication in the process of experiencing cultural differences. In grammar, students are supposed to use the adverbial clause of condition and the adverbial clause of concession. Students’ writing ability can be enhanced through the activities of reading the samples and writing a reply. Students can understand the contextual meaning of sentences in everyday English activities. In cultural corner, the reading material about the different implications of clapping on different occasions further deepened the students’ understanding of body language. The situational dialogue exercises can enhance students’ ability to use language. The task of “preparing some about social advice for visitors to China” is close to students’ life, improve students’ enthusiasm and confidence in learning English.
