This unit is the sixth unit in the first volume of Grade 5. This unit mainly focuses on the communicative function of “talking about diet” and learning and using the language of making a meal request to others. In the process of teaching in this unit, create all kinds of real situation as much as possible, game design, stimulate students interest in learning. At the same time, the design content must be geared to the needs of all students, from easy to difficult. Let the students have improvement from different degrees in a pleasant atmosphere, so as to achieve the purpose of cultivating students’ comprehensive ability of using language, stimulate students interest in English learning, enhance their self- confidence.

Knowledge objectives：

1.Students can learn and use the language pattern of making a meal request to others.

2.Students can understand, recognize and use the key sentence pattern: Can I have

some chicken? Yes, please.                   

3.Students can listen, speak, read, write and use the key words:

chicken, rice, noodles, meat.

4.Students can read tongue twisters skillfully in the “Listen and read” section.

Ability objectives：

1.Students can understand and speak: Can I have some chicken? Yes, please. 

And they can replace “chicken” in the process of listening and speaking.

2.Students can understand and speak the conversation in the “Listen 

and say” section, and they can move into similar situations.

3.Students can read and write the key words and key sentence pattern in this unit.

4.Students can complete the “Listen and write” section independently according to

the recording.

Emotion objectives：

1.Students can learn to communicate politely with others and express 

their willingness to eat during the meal.

2.Students can understand and distinguish healthy food from unhealthy food and 

develop healthy eating habits.

3.Students can enjoy learning English and dare to speak English.

Culture awareness：

Students can learn something about the students in other countries.
