教材内容分析

This module is the fifth module of compulsory 4. It is suitable for students of grade 2 in senior high school to study. This module is mainly about sports. The content involves various competitions and sports at home and abroad, as well as many sports stars, such as the Prince of gymnastics, Li Ning; the boxing champion, Muhammad Ali; the long-distance runner, Kip Keino; the soccer king, Bailey and the famous sports event-Marathon. The aim is to let students know and understand sports and sports figures through module teaching to cultivate students’ sentiment. The vocabulary class enables students to learn and memorize the key words and phrases of the whole module, which lays a foundation for the following courses and further enriches students’ vocabulary.  Through reading the passage about Li Ning, students learned the secret of success from failure. And they could love sports more from the experience of the other sports stars. Moreover, they had learned the spirit of defying difficulties and striving hard. The listening part is provided with short passages related to the topic of this module, introducing three sports stars to us, which can not only improve students’ listening ability, but also enable students to acquire the knowledge of cultural background in the process. The writing part enables students to master the structural features of writing notice through examples, and to learn how to write by imitation, aiming at improving students’ English writing ability.

3.Students can know more sports and this can improve students' interest in sports so

as to encourage students to do more exercise to improve their physique.

Students can know more about the Western sports.
