教材内容分析

This unit is the fifth one in the first volume of Grade 8. The title of this unit is “Do you want to watch a game show?” The topic of this unit is to talk about different kinds of TV shows. This is an interesting topic for students. So all the activities in this unit are helpful to raise students’ interest. By studying of this unit, students should know several kinds of TV shows and how to ask and answer preferences and make plans. 

I divide it into five periods: listening and speaking, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. In the first period, through the study of vocabulary, phrases, sentences patterns, students can express their preference of different kinds of TV shows accurately by using like or don’t like and make plans. As a result, students’ listening and speaking abilities can be improved. The second period is grammar, students learn to use infinitives as object, talk about preferences and make plans. The third period is vocabulary. By doing practice, students can memorize many relative words and phrases. The fourth one is reading, the passage in the notebook is about the origin of Disney. By skimming and scanning, students can understand the content and know the background of Disney. Moreover, they can get the main idea and some detail information about the passage. The last period is writing, the aim is to write a movie review. There is a good sample in the textbook, which is proper for students to imitate. What’s more, after mapping and outlining, students’ good writing habit to write an article within certain minutes can be formed. Last but not the least, through peer-editing and revising, their works can be polished as well.
