Abstract:Correct translation of public signs is conducive to strengthening economic and cultural exchanges with foreign countries. With the increasing frequency of international exchanges and the rapid development of global economy, the translation level of English tourism public signs in China needs to be improved urgently. Through investigation and research, this paper holds that the English translation errors of tourism public signs in Jiangsu Province can be attributed to three reasons: poor language mastery, poor cultural understanding and lack of high-quality translators, and puts forward feasible methods of English translation. I hope that this paper can provide some ideas for improving the translation level of public signs in Jiangsu Province, and benefit the development of tourism and enhance the image of Jiangsu Province among international tourists.
