Abstract:Chinese culture has a long history and far-reaching impact on mankind. Chinese idiom is a shining pearl in the history of Chinese culture and also a valuable asset, because Chinese idiom has rich connotation. Besides, Chinese idioms are abstracted from people’s production, life and practice, so people used it widely for Chinese idioms’ concise. This paper mainly explores the translation of Chinese numeral idioms from the perspective of functional equivalence theory. There are differences and similarities in the culture of different countries. There are also some interesting phenomena in the process of translation. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the translation of Chinese numeral idiom based on the functional equivalence theory. At the same time, people can not only understand the cultural differences and connotations, but also absorb the advantages of each other’s culture and language.
