Abstract: With the development of the economy and opening to the outside world, China has strengthened ties with other countries. Yangzhou has also sped up its communication with the world, which can be reflected by the provision of English translations of scenic public signs. Public sign is an important part of external publicity; it is of great significance to study the translation of public signs. This paper collects the English translations of local scenic spots in Yangzhou, analyzes the translations of the parks, pedestrian streets, the museums respectively and finds that there are some mistranslations. Based on the study, the author, from the view of standardizing translation of public signs, tries to find some tentative solutions to the mistranslation of local scenic public signs in Yangzhou.
