Abstract: English intonation has its own characteristics and functions, including the information function, the attitudinal function, the emphasis function and grammatical function. Different speakers may employ different intonation to express their thoughts, attitudes and feelings. So it is of great importance to master the functions of intonation to understand one another better and express yourself properly in daily communication. It is also important for Chinese students to employ English phonetic learning strategies properly, for learning strategies will influence learning effect directly, but due to the learners' individual differences, different learner should adopt different learning strategies such as interest-developing; imitating, practicing and utilizing visional materials.
