Abstract: Multimedia English class is a model used by more and more teachers and it has various advantages. However, with the popularization of multiple classes, we can see some problems appearing. For example, problems like mechanical demonstration, defective design, monotonous forms and undue dependence are not strange to us. So it is a hot topic to use multimedia to improve the quality of teaching and students’ learning. The thesis introduces the background and significance of this thesis based on the analysis of the current situation. The thesis also concludes the domestic and foreign research situation after introducing the theory of multimedia teaching. Besides, the thesis concludes the advantages and disadvantages of multimedia based on the investigation and observation. Lastly, the thesis lists some optimizing strategies in terms of the courseware making, the using environment, teachers’ quality and traditional teaching and makes a conclusion.
