Abstract: Body language is a reflect of culture. This study describes the characteristics of body language and how people communicate with body language. This study discusses the differences in body languages of different cultures. Based on the notion of cultural value orientation theory, the paper tries to explain why these differences emerge. For a better understanding and avoiding misunderstanding, it analyzes the exclusive body languages and taboos derived from the unique body language in different cultures. Finally, the paper calls for a proper application of body languages in intercultural communication. The author will also consider the influences of body language on intercultural communication.
