Abstract: With the growing of international business activities, there is a growing need for the research of business contract. This paper analyzes the application of synonyms used in business contract by illustrating, classifying and comparison, to show that English business contract has both the features of business English and legal English. Firstly，the definition of business contract will be introduced, and then, some related researches will be reviewed. As following, is the brief analysis of the lexical features of business contract and some principles of application of synonyms in business contracts. At last, the conclusion is made that the proper use of synonyms in English business contracts makes the writing of contracts more rigorous, and improves the development of international business activities.
