Abstract: This thesis talks about techniques for teaching English vocabulary, including techniques for presenting new vocabulary items, techniques for consolidating vocabulary, techniques for helping students develop vocabulary building strategies. It aims at helping junior high students to enlarge their vocabulary and lay a good foundation in this golden period of English study.

摘要：本文通过对初中英语教学中如何展示新词，如何巩固以及扩大词汇量等问题的研究，旨在提高英语词汇教学效率，帮助学生扩大词汇量，在初中这一学习英语的黄金时期打下坚实的基础。

The current situation in vocabulary acquisition among junior high school students shows that the traditional methods to teach English vocabulary such as learn by rote or by word lists is surely to be improved and the new teaching approaches should be adopted in vocabulary teaching. Besides that, teachers should try their best to consolidate and enlarge their students' vocabulary learning through effective teaching methods(Intuitive method, Interpretation method and Context-based teaching method). Without revision, students can not grasp or absorb the new words in a real sense. And it is very essential to make both teachers and students aware that integrated teaching methods are sure to play a vital role in their English teaching and learning. The progress needs both students' and teachers' efforts. Only in this, can students achieve their goal of improving their language ability definitely.
