Abstract: This study aims to analyze the formation of Jo March’s feminist consciousness in Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. To the author of this thesis, Jo March’s feminist consciousness is mainly affected by the social environment she lives, her familial education and her own ability of self-reflection. Living in a special time that patriarchy has gradually lost its dominated position and more and more women come to the stage of history, nurtured by the harmonious atmosphere in a sweet home in which she receives the best education from her parents and has learned much from her three sisters, and endowed with insightful self-reflection spirit, she finally becomes a new woman and representation of new women in that society.

Key words: little women, feminist consciousness, patriarchy, familial education, self-reflection
