Abstract: Chinese allusion idioms are the essence of the Chinese language and culture. They are language crystals in the long practice and use of Chinese. Chinese allusion idioms contain abundant cultural information, such as cultural features and cultural backgrounds. We should not only know their sources and features but also understand their images and meanings when we translate them into English. Amplification is one of the most common techniques in translation and therefore it can be used in translating Chinese allusion idioms into English. However, the application of amplification to the translation of Chinese allusion idioms into English is not under serious close discussion. This paper aims to first classify Chinese allusion idioms according to their sources and features, and then discuss some practical ways to use amplification in the translation of Chinese allusion idioms into English. 摘要:汉语典故成语是中华文化和汉语的精华,是人们在长期实践和使用汉语过程中提炼出来的语言的结晶。汉语典故成语中蕴涵着丰富的文化信息,如文化特征和文化背景等。将汉语典故成语译成英语不仅要了解其来源与特征,还要理解其相关意象和意义。增译法是最常见的翻译技巧之一,因而肯定能够应用于汉语典故成语的英译之中。然而,目前对应用增译法进行汉语典故成语英译的认真细致研究尚不多见。本文首先根据汉语典故成语的来源和特征对其进行分类,然后探讨增译法在汉语典故成语英译中的实际使用途径。 关键词:汉语典故成语;来源和特征;翻译; 增译法 |
