Abstract:Many people have realized the importance of English learning nowadays, but they seldom have awareness how to learn a language. According to the exam-oriented education in China, middle school students are trained to get high marks in the English exam, instead of studying the language itself. In my opinion, before learning a language, we should learn the thinking modes and cultivate the faculty of thinking. This thesis focuses on studying the significance and strategies of cultivating the middle school students’ faculty of English thinking. First of all, the thesis will explain what is English thinking and the relationship between language and thinking, so that we will know why we should cultivate the middle school students’ faculty of English thinking. Then the strategies will be introduced. The thesis is aimed to remind students of the importance of developing English thinking in English learning and help them really master the language.
