Abstract:As the bridge of Western cultural exchange and dissemination of information, translators directly determine the quality of news translation. This paper discusses connotation of subjectivity translator reflected in news translation and factors to affect the functions of them based on analysis of characteristics of the news and news translation. It places emphasis on the strategies and techniques used in news translation such as compilation, annotation, alienation, domestication, amplification and omission, for which translators can give a full play in subjective initiative when they make original language of news into target one. As we all know, news translation is tough job. An accepted translation needs to consider not only differences between two languages of Chinese and English such as characteristics of the language and structure but also cognitive level of different readers to the same event resulting from the diversity of regional cultures and dissimilarity of individual psychology. Therefore, in news translation, translators should interpret in detail those that are easily misunderstood by readers of the target language to avoid ambiguity. In the process of translation, they should also exploit their creativities and advantages to the full with respect to the combined application of news features, translation theory and techniques to make a contribution to a better translation of news.
