Abstract:This thesis explains the word meaning equivalent transmission of English-Chinese translation and cultural communication, including defining the word meaning, analyzing the reasons for differences in Chinese and English, listing methods of word meaning transmission to prove these are effective in practice. The purpose of this paper is to provide the strategies for word meaning transmission in English-Chinese translation. This thesis begins with the importance of word in English and Chinese culture based on the understanding of word meaning in English-Chinese translation by showing. The first chapter explains the definition of word meaning, the importance of word translation and its cognitive mechanism to lay the foundation for further discussion. The second chapter analyzes the differences of meaning and range of connotation between English and Chinese language to provide views for word meaning transmission.The third chapter states the solution to meaning in equivalent in word translation to provide a thinking mode for translators. The fourth chapter is the conclusion that solving the differences of meaning and range of connotation between English and Chinese words by using word meaning transmission in translation practice.
