Abstract:Idioms are phrases with specific forms and deep cultural connotation.Idioms include proverbs, idiomatic phrases, slang, common sayings ,historical stories ,street jokes ,literary works ,mysterious legends and interesting myths.Chinese idioms’ origins and cultural connotation are complicated and abundant, Chinese could not understand all the idioms,foreign culture also has less understanding about Chinese idioms.Hence, when we translate Chinese idioms,we must carefully pay attention to the influence of the translation of Chinese idioms, which caused by English-Chinese cross-cultural differences ,so as to show a clearer cultural essence of Chinese idioms. Focused on the culture, this paper is discussing the influence of translation of Chinese idioms, which caused by English-Chinese cross-cultural differences.Firstly this paper makes a brief introduces about Chinese idioms, including the unique features of the Chinese idioms and the inner cultural connotation behind Chinese idioms,etc.Then this paper deeply illustrates cross-cultural factors of influencing translation of Chinese idioms ,including social customs, historical culture, geography, etc. Finally,on the premise of cross-cultural differences, the paper makes a a suggestion about several translation strategies that could show Chinese idioms ’cultural connotation,including literal translation ,free translation,Rhetoric grafting translation ,etc. This paper has a certain significance in the study of cultural connotation in the translation of Chinese idioms
