Abstract
Language as a tool of communication is playing an important role in our daily life. Listening is a significant communicative competence in English language teaching. And it is the main way to acquire the language, to improve the abilities of “speaking, reading and writing”. The language barrier, obstacle to the background knowledge of culture, bad listening habits barriers and so on are the main factors affecting listening skills on students. Teachers should pay attention to guiding students’ pronunciation and intonation in teaching process, using English to organize more class activities. What’s more, teachers should attach importance to listening training and training of dictation and improve English students’ listening skills. For another, students should have good psychological diathesis and develop good listening habits.
