Abstract
Nowadays, compare with English written ability, the spoken application ability of middle school student is weaker. “Deaf-mutes” phenomenon is more serious. Therefore, middle school English teaching must strengthen the cultivation of listening. So the thesis will look for some factors that impede the better development of middle students’ listening abilities, such as the basic knowledge of language, the lack of cultural background knowledge, psychological factors, listening habits and the amount of training. To solve these problems, The thesis will find out some useful teaching strategies for middle school teachers. For example: How to improve the basic knowledge of language learning? How to strengthen the study of cultural background knowledge? How to develop excellent psychological qualities? How to provide natural language environment and to develop good listening habits?
