Abstract
Reading is one of the basic language skills and the main access to acquire information efficiently. It plays an essential role in English teaching and learning. The question that how to improve student’s English reading ability in secondary school has triggered professional concerns from home to abroad. In this essay, the factors hindering the improvement of students’ reading abilities will be analyzed firstly, and then the paper provides some strategies that can bring inspirations to people in terms of English education. At last, a series of new theories from famous educator, Bozan, will be discussed in the rest of dissertation.
