Abstract
In recent years, more and more foreign film and television programs have been entering into China with great popularity, and has become an important media for cultural transmission. Subtitle translation plays an inevitably important role in this process. The popularity of The Big Bang in China benefits its subtitle translation. Subtitle translation is a kind of special translation which is restrained by space and time, besides, it has extremely strong comprehensiveness. For subtitle translation, translators need to make use of the one or two lines below the screen, and express the character relation and the plot development comprehensively in the limited time. Subtitle translation should be concise and precise, and easy for the audience to understand. Besides, subtitle translation should significance of the film and television from all aspects into consideration. At present, there are few researches on the subtitle translation of The Big Bang. In addition, most researches are researching on its subtitle translation from the perspective of Skopos theory and pragmatic as well as functional theory. This paper tries to give a systematic research on the subtitle translation strategies for English sitcoms from the perspective of reception aesthetics. This paper aims at providing reference for translators to better understand the essence of translation and thus explore subtitle translation techniques.
