Abstract
With the development of the science and technology, people’s living standards are improving rapidly. Tourism has become an essential industry in the global economy. In addition to the economy promoting, the tourism provides jobs and shows the unique humanity culture of a city. As a historical and cultural city, Suzhou has been attracting numerous foreign tourists. During this process, the tourist brochure’s crucial position is needless to say. In our daily life, the tourist brochures play the significant role. The translations on the brochures provide a variety of convenience for both foreign visitors and readers. It can not also help them learn brilliant Chinese culture but also inspire their desire to travel. However, there’re many errors in the Suzhou tourist brochures which directly hinder the users’ cognition and understanding of the city. Some typical errors of the tourist brochures are dissected such as spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes and obscure mistakes. Those mistakes are classified and analyzed in order to supply recommendations for improvement. And we expect this paper could appeal to government to attach importance to the translations in Suzhou tourist brochures and take action to improve the quality of translation to prevent erroneous and misleading events.
