Abstract: A Room with A View is one of the greatest novels of E.M. Forster (1879-1970). In this novel, Foster exposes the British middle class’s ideological drawbacks, hypocritical moral values and backward social norms, promoting an open and enthusiastic Italian culture, encouraging the British people to establish an equal and diversified society under the reflection of heterogeneous culture. The paper tends to analyze the evolution of Lucy’s cultural identity from the perspective of cultural identity. First of all, cultural conflict under the influence of dominant culture is discussed; Secondly, heterogeneous culture is examined; finally, reconstruction of Lucy’s cultural Identity is explored.
