Abstract
With the development of technology and globalization, English becomes more and more significant. The English grammar takes a very important position in the English language learning. However, the issue of overusing traditional grammar teaching method like Grammar Translation Method in middle school is still very serious. The purpose of this paper is to improve the middle school students’ comprehensive language competence, especially their cooperative consciousness and self-study abilities, and finally push forward with further development of cooperative learning in English grammar teaching. In this paper, the author is going to adopt cooperative learning theory as a guidance of English grammar teaching. Combining the grammar teaching characteristics of English teaching under the New Curriculum, this paper analyzes the existing problems in recent grammar teaching in the middle school English class and clarifies the necessities of cooperative learning. The author also makes an attempt to carry out an empirical study with the help of some useful instruments.
