Abstract
Nowadays, a lot of students who have been learning English for many years and have a certain language basis cannot communicate in English in the real communication process. As an innovative teaching strategy, Cooperative learning mode not only can effectively regulate the classroom atmosphere, still can enhance the efficiency of the oral English teaching. Collaborative learning provides a powerful guarantee to enhance students' self-confidence, to promote students' individual character development, and to improve students' oral English ability. To carry out collaborative learning, the teachers should have clear understanding of their roles, make detailed analysis of the students, understand the principles of classroom activity design, layout appropriate cooperation tasks, organize class activities effectively, and make reasonable and effective evaluation system. This paper is based on the studies of cooperative learning and probes into the application of cooperative learning in oral English teaching. At first, it introduces the background, definitions and research of cooperative learning. Then, it analyses significance of cooperative learning. At last, it puts forwards the principles and specific procedures of the application of cooperative learning in oral English teaching.
