ABSTRACT
With the promotion of the middle school English curriculum reform in China, the cultivation of students’ lifelong learning ability has been one of the main tasks of the current middle school English teaching. Students gradually lose the interest in the traditional English teaching mode. Students learn very passively and be strongly dependent on their teachers. Therefore, it is very important to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability, which is of great significance for the cultivation of students' lifelong learning ability and personal development. This paper puts forward some suggestions based on the investigation and analysis of the current situation of middle school students' English autonomous learning ability in our country. Teachers should improve their teaching concepts and help students to form autonomous learning ability, which will be helpful to improve the efficiency and quality of English teaching in junior middle schools.
