Abstract: Due to the fact that basic education generally focus on teaching theoretical knowledge, middle school English teachers emphasize more on word and English grammar in the teaching process. Thus, this is too abstract and the teaching method has brought burden to students in English learning. Therefore, how to carry out the task-based language teaching method in English teaching in middle school becomes the central issue. Task-based language teaching method has been vitally important in English teaching in middle school, but problems still exist in middle school English teaching, such as the low learning efficiency and the low participation of the students. Aiming to figure out the limitations and to improve the method of task-based language teaching, this paper explores the current application of task-based language teaching method in middle school English teaching with a survey on it. Based on the findings from the survey, analysis is done on the the limitations of TBLT and also some factors influencing the application of TBLT.
