Abstract: The thesis is intended to discuss the proper application of Situational Teaching Method in primary school vocabulary teaching. The author introduces the definition characteristics and advantages of Situational Teaching Method at first, and then analyzes the current situation of Situational Teaching Method applied in primary school English classroom teaching. Furthermore, the author collects large number of front-line teachers’ teaching cases based on the new edition of English book, Yilin Press, and tries to find advantages and disadvantages of those teaching cases and reintegrate the reasonable part into three parts of the teaching procedure: leading-in, presentation and consolidation. The paper concludes that Situational Teaching Method as an effective way is suitable for primary school English classroom, especially in the vocabulary teaching. Setting up scenes should press close to children’s learning characteristics and focus on interest, creativity and communication.
