Abstract: The study focuses on the Chinese tropism towards the good embodied in translation of English sports terms to highlight the unique beauty of the Chinese language. When translating English texts into Chinese, of almost every domain, most translators have a propensity for a better aesthetic effect. This propensity in translation is consistent with the pursuit of the good in Chinese culture. The author collects a number of sports terms and analyzes their translations and tries to summarize the workable strategies. The result shows that when translators put English sports terms into Chinese, together with other principles for term translation, the goodness of the form and content can be the primary consideration and various translation methods shall be flexibly used to translate sports terms accurately and completely.
