Abstract: This paper focuses on China-specific neologisms, and collects different translation versions of them; at the same time, the author analyzes and compares different translation versions with relatively authoritative translations from Report on the Work of the Government and China Daily. Based on analysis and comparison, this paper adopts the perspective of foreignization and domestication, and finds that the overall tendency for translation of China-specific neologisms is foreignization. Meanwhile, the author summarizes three principles to follow when translating China-specific neologisms, namely, accuracy, cultural preservation, and timeliness. This study concludes that foreignization is the major and feasible strategy in translating China-specific neologisms accompanied with proper use of domestication. In this way, the best communication between Chinese and English can be reached and cultural uniqueness also can be maintained. Key words: China-specific neologisms; translation; foreignization; domestication
