Abstract
Tourism signs refer to the words and drawings which supply noticing, informing, directing and warning information to the public in the scenic spots. It is also an important channel which builds effective communication between the management organization of scenic spots and tourists. So C-E translation of public signs is of great importance for urban tourism to be internationalized and greatly accelerated the development of local economy. Vermeer puts forward Skopos Theory which emphasizes that any translation activity has its own purpose, on which a translation establishes its translation method. The target readers are key to determine the purpose of the translation. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, this thesis takes public signs in Huaguo Mountain as the studying object. Focusing on the simplicity, popularity and tone of the language, the thesis makes a deep study of its translation principles, and researches its translation strategy from the aspect of addition, omission, adaptation and transliteration. With a view to the research topic, we will give reasonable suggestions so that we can accurately convey the original information, help visitors understand and grasp the Huaguo Mountain public signs well , and finally realize the goal of the better service for tourists.
