This unit is the eighth unit in the first volume of Grade 7 Go for it. This unit focuses on the expression of dates. It mainly concentrates on the topic of "talking about date" to carry out listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. In section A, students need to learn the composition of ordinal words and the method of using ordinal words to express date. This part plays an important role in this unit and future learning. Besides, students learn to use special questions guided by when to ask for date, master the words and sentence patterns of expressing year, month and day in English. In section B, students can talk about various topics related to date skillfully and learn to write a note to invite friends to join activities. The reading material for this unit is a school notice about activities and dates. By filling in the blanks and retelling, the students can reproduce the information in the text, which can strengthen the understanding of essay and lay the foundation for the next writing. After this lesson, students might place great importance on managing time. In addition, it’s also necessary to ask and express the date of some common festivals. As the theme of this unit is “birthday”, it is closely related to life. Therefore, the teacher are fully exert students’ enthusiasm and initiative. There are five periods in this unit.
