This unit is the fourth unit in the first volume of Grade 8 from the Junior High School English Textbook for Grade Nine, published by PEP. The topic of this unit is talking about personal preferences and making comparisons. Students will learn from listening, speaking, reading and writing. Different listening tasks can help students understand the superlative usage better. The oral part of the textbook organizes various activities such as questioning, role-playing, interview, etc., to guide students to express their preferences with the superlatives. In the reading section, students can learn how to evaluate a person or program by reading about a talent show. The writing section, which asks students to write about the best places in their town, is the focus of this unit. The topic of this unit is close to students' life, which can make students actively participate in the classroom activities. By studying this unit students can understand and use superlatives to talk about characteristics of people or things in the real context.
