教材内容分析

This unit is the third unit of the first volume of the fourth grade of primary school English. The unit topic is My Friends. Through the study of this unit, students can use the words, phrases and sentence patterns they have learned to introduce their good friends.

This unit is divided into three periods. The first period is Vocabulary class, Let’s learn and Let’s chant. This lesson focuses on word reading and memorizing. According a conversation between John and Mike, students can introduce their friends with the words, tall and strong, short and thin, friendly and quiet. 

The second period is Reading class, Let’s talk and Let’s play. Let’s talk is a talk between John and his mother. The part is about John introduce his new friend, Zhang Peng for his mother. Through speaking and reading activity , students can read the talk and the sentences, “What’s his name? His name is Zhang Peng. He’s tall and strong. Who is he/she? ” Next  part is Let’s play. The students will play a game in this part. 

The third period is Phonetic class, Let’s spell.Students are expected to learn the different pronunciations of the letter “O” through two different groups of words. One group is nose, note, coke and Mr Jones. Another is not, dog, body and box.

3.Enable students to distinguish the different pronunciations of the letter “O”.

Difficult points:

1.Enable students to be aware of the taboos in the description of someone’s appearance and the discrimination against classmates who are overweight.

2.Enable students to speak and use these words and sentences , strong, friendly, quiet, tall, thin, short and “What’s his name? His name is Zhang Peng. He’s tall and strong. Who is he/she?” to make a fluent conversation.

3.Enable students to practice their reading, listening, speaking and communicating skills.
